Barcelona – Blume Memorial, one of the oldest competitions in Europe, returns this weekend to its origins with an All Around competition. After being a World Cup event last year, Blume Memorial has recovered the All Around competition for this edition. The competition, in honour of one of the greatest Spanish gymnasts of the history, Joaquim Blume, celebrated its first edition in 1969; after the Spanish gymnastics team suffered a plane crash where its integrants died. Blume was 25 years old at that time and was proclaimed European Champion in the AA in 1957.
Gervasio Deferr, triple Olympic medallist (Gold on vault in 2000 and 2004; and silver on floor in 2008) will receive homage from the Catalan Federation for his contribution to the popularity of gymnastics and for his success in the sport.
At this edition of Blume Memorial, 8 male gymnasts and 8 female gymnasts will compete for the title.
